Things to do before Vacation!

You guys. I love taking trips! I mean, who doesn't? It's so wonderful to get away, experience something new, and all the food you get to eat. My husband and I love eating out lol. I also love making lists. This past year in March (omg it seem sooo long ago) was our 1st wedding anniversary and we decided to go to Florida. When we got married (I need to do a separate story on this!) it was a quick decision. I'm talking 24 hours beforehand we decided we would get married the next night. All for good reasoning. But anyways, so our "honeymoon" was a trip to a town an hour away and we just stayed one night I think. Just for something fun to do, since we were living with my mom and hadn't found a house yet...and like I said before, got married on a whim. We did this little "honeymoon" a while after we got married too. It was more than a week later, I can't even remember how long after.

Enter: Lists.
I just wanted to share with you guys a list of things to do before vacation. I wanted everything to be perfect when we got back home from Florida, so I tried to do as much as I could the day before we left (and the morning of departure). I hope this helps you as it did me.

By the way, the flower in the background is my own photo I took in St. Augustine. It's a beauty! You can check it out on my Instagram, @naturebynancy, you'll just have to do some scrolling!

Before Move-In (What to Do) Moving Series: Part 3

Hiya! This is the third post in my mini moving series. This was a small list I had made to do before we moved in. There is so much more to do, like changing over your address to everything, but I just wanted to make a list because I love making lists to help all the newbie movers out there. I was a newb once.

And yes, I know that usually it's spelled "noob" but I like to make my own path and be different.

Good luck!

Notify:
  • Electric
  • Water
  • Trash
I had to call the day we signed the papers to get the ball a'rollin and I was so nervous. I get nervous about the silliest things, ok.

  • Make appointment with [insert your choice of internet company here].

  • Change locks

  • Order address labels (for checks, mail, etc.)

  • Change toilet/toilet seat
We ended up just changing the toilet seat. I love my toilet lol.

  • Design space
I tried to imagine where I wanted everything before we moved in so I had an idea of where it all needed to go.

  • Clean.
Omg. So important. This is #2 after calling the companies above.

  • Love your new home!

Change of Address (Who to Alert!) Moving Series: Part 2

Hello, lovelies!

This little post goes hand in hand with my previous one. It's sort of a mini-series on moving to a new home. This is a list of places/people/businesses you need to alert and let them know you've changed addresses! It can be such a pain to remember everyone you need to get ahold of!

As for informing family, word of mouth, texts, or what we did last year does the trick. Last year we made out Christmas cards and slapped an address label on it and I wrote *our new address!* underneath it. You can also be cutesy and send out little *we moved!* cards.

Change of Address
  • Employer (paychecks, tax forms, etc.)
  • Bank
  • Loans (school, etc.)
  • Health/Dental/Life/Car/Homeowners Insurance
  • Doctor
  • Dentist
  • Vet
  • Retail Clubs
  • Magazines
  • Subscription Boxes
  • DMV (license)
  • Social Security
  • Netflix/HBO
  • Shopping Online (Amazon, Walmart, etc. [for shipping purposes])
  • Pharmacy
  • Friends & Family
  • FOID card
  • Conceal & Carry
There you have it! I hope you love your new home and good luck with getting everything changed over!

New Home Shopping List! Moving Series: Part 1

Hello everyone! I really had intentions of making this blog an often thing, but it's been so long since my last post. But hey, that's ok. So I have been meaning to make these posts! Finally, I think I will do it.

So my husband and I bought our first home when we were 22/23! It's a two-story brick home that's almost 100 years old. We've had our ups and downs with owning a home, but it's worth it and we love it. When we bought the house, we were living with my mom until we found a house. So we didn't have all that much of our own food supply which means we had to go on a big (expensive) shopping trip! Face it, you have to make the trip so you can start living in your new home! I thought I would share a list of things to get when you move into your new home. I know I had to go on Pinterest and search for a list! It never fails I forget something, whether it be on my list or not.

Everyone's list will obviously be different, depending on what they like/don't like. This is just a basic general list!

Happy shopping!
